Finding a dial is not finding its number
A physical dial completes the mechanism; a clue tells you which number to set. The blue dial is hidden in the cake, but the cake's candles give the red number. This distinction prevents the most common color mix-up.

Progressive hints
Hint 1 · Treat the room as a chain
Birthday objects do more than decorate the room. Food can reveal an item and also become something to trade.
Hint 2 · Match the machines
The pump needs the balloon. The cotton-candy machine needs a rod hidden behind the poster. The fortune teller needs money from the birthday card.
Green: pop the balloon
The green dial is already on the lock. What you need is its value.
Collect the loose balloon
Search the cell and pick up the balloon; select it from your backpack.
Use the hand pump
Attach the balloon and operate the pump repeatedly until it pops.
Record the reveal
Read the revealed number and label it green. Do not confuse the number of pump actions with the number shown by the clue.
Blue: cake dial, fortune number
Read red, then eat the cake
Count the red candles first. Remove the cover and keep eating until the blue dial is exposed. Collect the dial and keep the available cake piece for Frankie.
Trade the piece for a birthday card
Give the cake piece to Frankie during her visit. Inspect the card she gives you and take the dollar.
Ask the fortune teller
Insert the dollar and activate the machine. Read or listen to its rhymed lucky number; that is blue. Completing this interaction also makes the pink dial available on the bed.

Recover the rod behind the poster
Inspect the poster fasteners. The red pins are the weak ones. Pull them to expose the gap and retrieve the rod.
Make the cotton candy
Insert the rod into the cotton-candy machine and switch it on. Read the number formed by the candy. Write it down as pink, then turn the machine off.
Collect the physical pink dial
After finishing the fortune teller, check the bed. The candy gives a number, not the missing dial itself.

Reveal the recommended puzzle order
- Count the red candles before disturbing the cake.
- Find the rod behind the poster and reveal the pink cotton-candy number.
- Pop the balloon and record green.
- Eat the cake, take the blue dial, and keep the cake piece.
- Trade the piece for the birthday card and take its dollar.
- Use the fortune teller for blue, then collect the pink dial from the bed.
- Install both missing parts and set the four-color prison lock.
